Teen Wolf season 5 is only a fraction of the way through its entire run, and it sounds like things are only going to get harder for our heroes.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Executive Producer Jeff Davis said everyone’s relationships are going to be tested this season, leading us to a truly dark finale.

Specifically, what happened in last night’s episode will have consequences for the rest of the season.

“Kira will begin to pull away from Scott and her friends, believing that she may be doing more harm than good,” Davis says. Kira found herself unable to control her powers, and it took every ounce of Scott’s strength to save his girlfriend from the Dread Doctors.

At the end of the episode, Scott admits that he meant what he said when he told Kira he loved her, and they hold hands as he heals from his burns. “Unfortunately, this may be one of the last good moments for Kira and Scott,” Davis warns. “The rise in her power and her lack of control begins to push them apart.”

But the scene between Scott and Kira wasn’t even the most shocking moment of the episode. After accidentally killing Donovan, Stiles tells no one of what he did. “Stiles’ guilt will weigh heavily on him during the latter half of this season, and it will begin to push him and Malia apart,” Davis explains. “There will be too many secrets between them, and it’s going to provide for a lot of conflict. Stiles will be dealing with the fallout of this episode for quite a while.”

Considering the gravity of what happened, we’re not surprised this will begin to affect everyone. Davis adds, “Scott and his friends will face the possible dissolution of their pack and even their friendships.”
