Teen Wolf season 5 sees Kira Yukimura leaving Beacon Hills for a second time with a mysterious container in tow.
Last time Kira left town, her mother took her to the New Mexico desert to face the Skinwalkers, a trio of women who were meant to test Kira to see if she could overcome her struggles with the kitsune spirit inside of her. She faced off against an oni in an epic battle, and she defeated it.
Or, rather, the fox spirit inside of her defeated the oni. The Skinwalkers said she hadn’t passed their test, claiming she wielded the sword, but the fox wielded her. All seemed lost until Scott and Stiles showed up to help Noshiko and her daughter escape an eternal sentence with the Skinwalkers.
Kira’s struggles with the power inside her has been growing increasingly worse. Most recently, we saw the spirit take over, and she spoke in Japanese to and battled against Brett’s sister inside the school. Scott was able to snap her out of it before she did any real damage, but before they could address the issue, The Beast attacked.
In Teen Wolf season 5, episode 19, “The Beast of Beacon Hills,” Kira will be heading away from home once more, but there are a few differences in store.
First off, she won’t be leaving with her mother, which means she’s probably looking to sneak out before anyone can stop her. Secondly, we don’t actually know where she’s going, but it stands to reason she could be looking for a rematch against the Skinwalkers to prove she can be saved.
Lastly, Kira has a mysterious container on the front seat of her car. One theory is that it possess the pieces of her broken sword, which her father told her only led to more trouble when it came to the kitsune. It’s through the sword that Kira channels her inner fox spirit, and by taking the sword away, he hoped Kira would find herself in less trouble.
It was a nice thought, but it didn’t quite work.
Kira tells Scott she’ll be back. She’s not running away from the problem, but rather feels she has something she must do before she can truly help the pack take on The Beast and save Mason.
