Teen Wolf season 3, episode 5, titled “Frayed,” got an extended promo, and it shows Deucalion in action as he sets out to manipulate all the Beacon Hills werewolves.
And, unfortunately, the humans aren’t too safe from his wiles either.
The video starts off with Scott saying, “I’m not like you.” This must be in response to Deucalion wanting him to, as he says later, kill Derek (the Alpha) in order to become one as well. Deucalion doesn’t miss a beat as he says, “Rise to the occasion.”
The promo then goes on to say an alpha will die in this episode, but who could it be? Now that there’s an Alpha Pack in town, there are definitely plenty of options. Derek seems hell bent on going after the pack, and he wants Scott to help him.
Deucalion seems to understand Scott’s weaknesses, however, as he tells him that now is the time to kill one person in order to save another. Will Scott be willing to do that in order to save someone like Allison, his mother, Stiles, or even Isaac, whom he has grown closer to recently?
“There’s safety in numbers,” says Scott to Stiles. Stiles responds, “Yeah, but there’s also death in numbers, okay. It’s called a massacre.”
Touché.
The rest of the video shows us various werewolves fighting each other. Isaac beats up one of the Alpha twins, Derek goes after Kali, and we even see Boyd and Scott being thrown around a bit.
The point of the video, and perhaps this episode, is that Deucalion wants to see what Scott’s made of. We know from the first episode, “Tattoo,” that the mysterious girl believes Scott is going to become something great. We also know from this past episode, “Unleashed,” that Deucalion likes to collect talented werewolves to be a part of his pack.
We’re left unsure if Deucalion is more interested in killing Scott, as he expressed in that first episode, or collecting him.
