Shocking news for every fan of Teen Wolf: we may have seen the last of Jackson Whittemore.

The report comes from US Weekly, who says that Haynes may not be returning for season 3. This all comes from a “source” close to US Weekly, who states, “Colton is leaving Teen Wolf. It’s not that he didn’t want to return because he did. It’s that the heads of the show wanted to limit him to only appearing on half the season — 12 episodes, not 24.” The same source claims that he is being forced off the show.

However, MTV denies the statement, saying there is “absolutely no truth that Colton is being pushed out or that he, or any cast member, is being replaced. We love Colton and look forward to his returning with the entire cast for season 3 of Teen Wolf.”

MTV says that Haynes isn’t being pushed out – but it doesn’t state that he didn’t choose to leave. He may not be replaced, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t be written out of the show.

Being in a contract for the show would put him on hold for all 24 episodes – even if he didn’t have a role to play in every single one. Understandably, it would be hard to sit idly by when you’re a budding young actor.

E Online also weighs in on the news: “Sources tell us Haynes’ exit from the show is due to failed contract negotiations. A ‘lucrative offer’ for two more seasons (48 episodes) was made to Haynes, but his team sat on the decision for almost two months. (We’re hearing he was up for a role in a new pilot.)”

While a new pilot opportunity for the star is certainly exciting, we can’t say we’re not devastated that Jackson may potentially be off the show for good. On that note, E! also says that, unsure if Haynes would be returning, Jeff Davis wrote the first five episodes of season 3 without an appearance from Jackson.

But, they say, Haynes could come back. He could make a guest appearance, and we’re certain that the cast would accept him back with open arms if he chose to do so.

Several sources are reporting this news, but we’re still hesitant to label it as anything but rumor until we get confirmation from MTV or the actor himself. In the meantime, enjoy this vague tweet:

It could be about anything right? He was supposed to be moving, so maybe that’s what he meant? Hey, we never said we weren’t in denial.

As soon as we hear a confirmation either way, we’ll let you guys know.

Are you upset that Jackson might not be on ‘Teen Wolf’ any longer?
