Hypable attended the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con panel for Teen Wolf. Check out our recap here!

At the SDCC panel for Teen Wolf, Executive Producer Jeff Davis, Tyler Posey (Scott), Holland Roden (Lydia), Dylan O’Brien (Stiles), Crystal Reed (Allison), Daniel Sharman (Isaac), Tyler Hoechlin (Derek), Max Carver (Aiden), and Charlie Carver (Ethan) were in attendance.

In the beginning of the panel, the moderator talked about the success of Teen Wolf. In particular, we learned that the last episode, “Currents” is on track to being the highest rated episode of all time.

The first question of the evening was directed toward Jeff Davis. When asked what he intended to accomplish with the first handful of episodes of Teen Wolf season 3, Davis stated that his main intentions were to introduce new characters and bring the audience back to the characters we already love.

With the newest development of Scott on track to become a True Alpha, Davis stated that, “Scott is such a good person, he has such a strong will, he doesn’t have to steal.” In addition, Davis said, “The merit of your character can help you rise,” and that is what Scott can look forward to.

In the same vein, Posey added that he’s glad Scott doesn’t have to kill anyone and is “so happy” he’s going to play a True Alpha.

Next, Roden compared Lydia to the hatch from Lost. We also found out that season 3, episode 9 is Lydia-centric and will be the episode where we find out what exactly Lydia is. It turns out that the title of the episode, “The Girl Who Knew Too Much,” is indeed about Lydia, in addition to being an Alfred Hitchcock homage.

Moving on, O’Brien fielded a question about that scene between Stiles and Scott at the end of “Motel California.” O’Brien stated that it was such a “Dylan/Tyler moment,” and that “the characters came second there.”

Speaking of Stiles, the moderator hilariously brought up the fact that, “someone needs to have sex with Stiles.” Jokes aside, we learned that the question of Stiles’ virginity will be answered in an upcoming episode. Could this be related to the kiss he shared with Lydia in the latest clip?

In speaking about her character, Reed said she enjoyed finding the parts of her mother in her. She also said that playing Allison’s arc over the last few seasons have been fun, and thanked Davis for writing such an interesting character. She said it was great being able to play up both sides of her self — the side most like her mother, and the side most like her father.

Speaking about his character, Hoechlin said that season 3 has shown us a more vulnerable Derek. Hoechlin’s favorite part about season 3 so far has been the emotional scenes and the ability to play with a new side of his character each season.

Speaking of the immediate future. Davis teased us a little bit about season 3, episode 8, entitled “Visions.” This is the highly anticipated flashback episode that will focus on Derek as young teen. “We’re really proud of it,” Davis said. He also stated that a lot of questions will be answered.

In relation to the twins, we were told that their love interests will start affecting them. Davis in particular likes the idea of changing a bad guy to a good guy, but said there needs to be motivation for that to be instigated. It was hinted that both Ethan and Aiden might start walking down that path.

In some exciting turn of events, we learned that January 6 will be the return date for the second half of season 3. There’s no word yet on season 4.

In much happier news, we saw a preview for the rest of the first half of the season, and then were surprised by Keahu Kahuanui (Danny) in full costume showing up at the mic, then removing his mask so everyone could see it was him. The crowd, naturally, went wild, and Kahuanui asked if we would be getting more Miguel.

Rounding out the panel, O’Brien and Posey talked about how close (or, rather, not so close) they were while on stage (“We’re about to rip Holland apart to get to each other.”), their favorite scenes (Hoechlin’s was when Derek slammed Stiles’ head against the Jeep’s steering wheel), and whether or not they’d want to be werewolves (Max Carver did not).

As the panel wrapped up, we learned a bit more about the second half of Teen Wolf season 3. We found out that Danny will indeed cross paths with the supernatural. We also learned that Kira is a young Asian-American female being added to the cast, and that we’re moving into a heavier Asian influence during the winter season, including mythology like the kitsune.
