As Teen Wolf season 3 lurches ever closer (six days!), we thought it might be fun to take a closer look at one of our favorite characters… Coach Finstock. From yelling at Greenberg to, well, yelling at everyone else, we have really fallen in love with his incredible one-liners. Here are a few of our favorite Teen Wolf quotes from the coach.

From ‘Second Chance at First Line’

As one of the most memorable lines Coach has ever yelled at a player, this one HAD to make the list. There’s just something about the visual of Scott McCall getting beaten in a footrace by Coach’s dead grandmother that elicits nothing but a burst of giggling. As this was in the second episode of the first season, “Second Chance at First Line,” it was one of our first examples of just how great a character Coach Finstock was going to be.

From ‘The Tell’

This parent teacher conference between Sheriff Stilinski and Coach Finstock, aka the economics teacher (who knew?), is chock full of great moments, and it’s pretty amazing television, but learning that Coach really thought that Stiles was his first name in addition to the last name Stilinski took the cake. Stiles Stilinski, really, Coach? And when Sheriff Stilinski address Coach as ‘cupcake’? Well, that’s just Teen Wolf perfection right there.

From ‘Lunatic’

Even though we, the viewers and fans, know what Stiles planned to do with the 100 ft of chain he was storing in his locker, we can definitely still identify with Coach a bit here. We’re certain there are many things in Stiles’ locker that would confound and probably even disturb us. Especially knowing all the crazy antics the Beacon Hills High gang gets themselves into on Teen Wolf, whatever Stiles may need that much chain for can’t be good… and it may even be creepy.

Stiles (or Biles, if you’d like) making first line seemed like a miracle, but actually getting to play in the game just seemed too good to be true. Even Stiles could barely believe he is getting a chance to play, hence the stuttering and arm flailing. What are we talking about? Stiles is always like that. This quote combines some of our favorite things about Teen Wolf: Greenberg, Coach’s anger, Stiles, and lacrosse.

From ‘Omega’

Coach’s concern for Lydia’s safety is both touching and significantly disturbing. This line in his short monologue about searching the woods for the lost girl stands out though, and it teaches us a few things we wish we didn’t know about Coach Finstock: 1) He has run around in the cold naked… more than once. And 2) He lost a testicle to exposure. That’s a little bit of an overshare there, Coach.

It couldn’t be a comprehensive list of Coach quotes without at least one Greenberg reference, and this is one of the best. While the police are on the lookout for Isaac, Coach is making sure that his team knows what to do if they spot him, until he gets distracted by Greenberg. It’s as if Coach has some sort of button that can be pressed simply by him being in the room. Some may say poor Greenberg, but we think he brings it upon himself… just shut up, Greenberg!

From ‘Shape Shifted’

In one of Teen Wolf’s most ridiculous moments, while playing goalie at lacrosse practice, Scott runs out of the goal repeatedly to smell each member of the lacrosse team, and, well, Coach sort of loses it after the 3rd time or so. To be completely honest, we don’t blame him, it wasn’t exactly one of Scott’s better schemes. There are only so many excuses for the goalie to run out of the goal, and Scott clearly stretched Coach’s patience to its breaking point, so we’ll give this one to you, Coach.

From ‘Abomination’

Lacrosse is a tough sport, and when a behemoth of a high school student shows up to play for the other team, there is absolutely no chance that Coach Finstock is going to keep his cool. This is probably one of the tamest things Coach has ever shouted at a referee, so we consider this a decent attempt at controlling his temper, especially since he’s watching his team go down one player at a time.
