Tyler Hoechlin, who plays Derek Hale on Teen Wolf, reveals his favorite moment playing the broody character, and it’s actually a scene from season 3!
Thanks to the MTV Remote Control Blog, we get to see Hoechlin reveal and explain his favorite moment as Derek Hale over the past three seasons. Watch below:
“My favorite scene to act in on Teen Wolf so far has to be from the episode where Derek gets possessed,” Hoechlin says, referring to season 3, episode 22, “De-Void.” After one of the flies from the nogitsune enters through an open wound on Derek’s shoulder, Derek goes a little out of his mind.
Although, that’s probably an understatement. Derek knocks out Chris Argent, ties him up, soaks him in lighter fluid, and tells him he’s going to light him on fire and make his daughter, Allison, watch it all happen.
So, why was this Hoechlin’s favorite scene? “It was a really fun experience to be Derek for a day on set when he was nothing like Derek,” he says. “It was a freeing experience.”
Hoechlin also talks about a little bit of improv he and JR Bourne (Chris Argent) conducted while they were shooting this scene. It was when Derek holds the lighter in front of Chris’ face and Chris blows it out. Apparently the director liked it so much, he told the actors to do it in every take from that point forward and it made it into the show.
Teen Wolf season 3, episode 24, “The Divine Move,” will air on Monday, March 24 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. This is the season 3 finale, and after the major death in the last episode, we can’t imagine how anything else could be so shocking — though we think they’ll be trying to top it anyway!
