Teen Wolf season 5, episode 7, “Strange Frequencies,” begins with Theo telling Stiles he knows what happened to Donovan. Theo then urges Stiles to make a decision about the chimera’s body, saying it can allow them to find out who’s stealing them.
Liam tries to prove to Hayden that werewolves and Dread Doctors exist, but she punches him in the face and gets the hell out of there. On a back road, her car dies as the Dread Doctors come for her. With her doors locked, her car not turning on, and the radio station whispering her name, Liam comes to her rescue and they escape together.
Scott identifies the dead chimera as Josh. Both Theo and Stiles lie to him about who did it, saying it was one of the Dread Doctors. Then Scott gets a message from Liam, saying he’s found another chimera.
Liam, Scott, and Stiles stand outside the bathroom where Hayden has locked herself inside. They just want to help, but she terrified. Scott says if she does’t come out, he’ll have to break down the door to make sure she’s okay. That’s when she opens the door and we see her golden eyes, her teeth, and her claws. She definitely believes them now.
The next day, Kira helps her father take some stuff to school, but her parents have an ulterior motive. Kira’s mom attacks her to test her preparedness, but gets more than she bargained for when the fox spirit begins to take over. It’s only when Kira’s father slams down her Kitsune tail that Kira snaps out of it.
Mason is in the library looking for a book when he spots Corey, Lucas’ boyfriend. Mason can’t offer anything other than his condolences, and when Corey walks away, Mason sees he was looking at a book titled Miraculous Healing.
In what’s close to a heist montage, the group plans to keep Hayden safe at the school. Kira decides to sit this one out because she’s worried about controlling her power. Meanwhile, Theo confronts one of the Dread Doctors, who already knows who is taking the failed experiments. Theo is meant to be kept in the loop, and he doesn’t seem too happy that he’s not. When Stiles drops by, they set up a camera to see if they can catch the person in the act.
Kira gets acupuncture to hopefully restore her balance while Sheriff talks Melissa into getting him medical records for all of the known victims.
The group sets up the school, and within moments the Dread Doctors appear. Back at the vet’s office, Theo and Stiles have some bonding time, and Stiles is having none of it. That is, until Theo starts talking about what happened to his sister. Though he spins a good tale, in a flashback we see that he stood idly by while his sister froze in a river.
As Liam tries to teach Hayden to control her power, Lydia reminds Scott they can’t check in with Stiles and Theo and they have no idea what those two are waiting for. Stiles, forever sarcastic, feels like spending this much time with Theo is his punishment — but in reality, he’s terrified he’s going to lose his best friend.
Oh, and Kira has now disappeared. This doesn’t bode well.
Liam discovers Plan B, which is to catch the Dread Doctors. Neither Hayden nor Liam seem happy that she’s the bait. Cutting over to Parrish in the parking lot, he dreams about kissing Lydia, but when he’s pulled away, she’s covered in burns.
Malia thinks she hears something, but as she steps forward, bear traps close around her leg and arm. A metal rod is thrust through her throat as the Dread Doctors step over her body. Back at the station, Melissa and Sheriff Stilinski figure out the kids all had donated organs. More importantly, all the kids had already been born chimeras.
Liam is not happy with the plan, but understand they’re at the end of their rope. He makes Scott promise he’ll do everything in his power to protect Hayden. That’s when Hayden realizes she’s missing her pills, so Scott gets them himself. Unfortunately, Kira attacks him before he returns.
On lookout, Lydia sees Tracy, who tells her she wants her to scream and then rips her tongue out before she can. Theo gets Stiles to admit he was glad Donovan died, and then Parrish attacks them, flipping over the Jeep and leaving them to make it out on their own as he takes Josh’s body.
Mason cuts Scott to snap him out of whatever is going on, and Kira disappears. The only problem? Liam and Hayden have been taken by the Dread Doctors.
Mama McCall comes home to a body on her counter with Kira’s sword sticking straight out of her abdomen.
