Teen Wolf season 5, episode 3 just finished airing! Check out our recap and discuss with fellow fans.

In the opening scene of Teen Wolf season 5, episode 3, “Dreamcatchers,” we see Donovan being handcuffed while Sheriff Stilinski is adjusting his. Stiles is being nosy, while Scott compliments him, eliciting a “Well, thank you, son-I-should’ve-had,” from the sheriff.

Donovan meets with his lawyer, who happens to be Tracy’s dad, and it’s clear the delinquent is going to get three to five years in prison for his deeds. That’s when Donovan goes off the rails and starts threatening Sheriff Stilinski again. Donovan’s lawyer looks annoyed, and both Sheriff and Stiles tear into him before he’s dragged away.

In the car, the driver starts losing feeling in his hands and feet, and we see Kanima venom dripping from the roof. Tracy is up there, and while Donovan escapes, she attacks her father and the two cops, killing the former and maiming the latter.

A Doctor shows up for Donovan, drilling something through his ear and into his brain, causing his eyes to turn silver.

Stiles has his first clue about the Desert Wolf, and it’s obvious how upset he is about what he’s found. Couple this with continued Jeep troubles, and we see Stiles at the end of his rope again. Scott looks worried.

Kira and Lydia should be the worried ones, though. They’re teaching Malia how to drive. It’s not going so well. Before they realize it, Lydia is directing them downtown, and she decides to follow her Banshee instincts. They find Tracy’s dad and call the cops, but everyone thinks Donovan was the one that attacked them.

Getting some unnecessary flipping out of the way, Scott goes after Donovan’s scent. He finds him, and Donovan keeps repeating Tracy’s name. Lydia puts two and two together and realizes something else is going on here.

“You’re a Kitsune. I don’t even know what that is,” Mason says. He’s finally part of the inner circle, for better or worse, and he looks pretty stoked to be there. Stiles isn’t so sure about him being part of the gang just yet.

Meanwhile, Donovan wants a new lawyer and Tracy has continued her killing spree by going after her psychiatrist. Stiles shows Malia what he found on the Desert Wolf — it’s a picture of a group of people she’s killed.

Scott struggles with paying attention in his AP biology class and getting a message from Liam warning him that Tracy is in Mr. Yukimura’s class. When class is out, everyone clears out except for Hayden, who checks on Tracy. But Tracy lashes out, digging in with her claws. “They’re coming,” Tracy says. “They’re coming for all of us.” Tracy passes out, mercury spilling from her mouth, and Scott, Mr. Yukimura, and Liam take her out of the school.

Hayden goes to wash the blood off her arm, but her wound has been completely healed. Is she a supernatural creature, too? And if she is, does she know it?

The group asks Brett about Satomi and if she knows of any new Alphas in town, as that might be the only way to find out who’s controlling Tracy. At the clinic, Deaton is looking over Tracy and notices a skin graft on her shoulder and the mercury in her mouth. They put up a mountain ash barrier and try to figure out what she is, starting with the fact that nothing can pierce Tracy’s skin.

Liam notices the necklace in Tracy’s photo, and after being told Satomi isn’t recruiting, he, Brett, and Mason go back out into the woods.

Lydia and Kira stop by Tracy’s room and find a dreamcatcher given to her by her father. Lydia realizes Tracy suffers from homicidal somnambulism, which means she’s experiencing night terrors and killing people while she sleeps.

We cut back to Deaton, who notices something in Tracy’s neck. They flip her over, and watch as her back splits open, her spine morphs, and her tail lashes out. Tracy is a Kanima. She attacks everyone in the room, paralyzing them, and then escapes through the mountain ash barrier.

It’s Mason’s turn to fall in a hole, and the trio realize someone was buried there. It’s not the same hole Liam previously discovered, and now they have to wonder who had been buried there if it wasn’t Tracy. We cut to Donovan and wonder if it was him.

Struggling to gain control of their bodies, Malia is the first to break free of the venom. “Save her,” Scott pleads. Malia seems reluctant, but goes after Tracy anyway. This is also when Lydia realizes Tracy is going after her mother, who is on a date with the sheriff. Lydia and Kira show up just in time.

Kira fights Tracy, but Lydia receives a severe wound to her side. Kira cuts off Tracy’s tail, her fox form swirling around her in flames.

Theo wants to help Scott, Stiles, and Deaton, though it’s obvious they’re still hesitant to let him in. He says it’s not as part of Scott’s pack, but because he wants to help regardless.

Tracy drags Mrs. Martin to the basement, and Malia is not far behind. They fight again, but Malia overpowers her. Luckily for Tracy, Malia decides to listen to Scott and not harm her. Unluckily for Tracy, the Doctors show up and kill her, leaving Malia behind.
