Teen Wolf season 5, episode 2, “Parasomnia,” just finished airing. Check out our recap and discuss it with fellow fans!

We begin with a new character named Tracy, who is in the guidance office with Mrs. Martin. Tracy has night terrors, and she begins to tell the story of what happened to her the night before. We see there was a bird tapping on her window, and then one of the Dread Doctors shows up. While trying to anxiously shut her window, something grabs her chair and she’s found the next morning by her father.

Mrs. Martin says Tracy just has anxiety and it’s quite common. That is, until she throws up black blood and feathers. “Is this common?”

At the vet’s office, Scott is injecting a dog with the help of Dr. Deaton. After the dog leaves with its (adorable) owner, Deaton checks out the talons from the first episode’s bad guy. They’re harpy eagle talons that can absorb powers. Absorbing powers usually only happens when a bitten werewolf does it to their alpha, but Deaton thinks the rules are changing.

At school the next day, Stiles tells Malia that Theo got a speeding ticket eight years ago which was signed by his father, and that this makes him suspicious. Malia agrees Stiles should feel threatened, but doesn’t get why Stiles is so obsessed with proving Theo’s guilt. Then Stiles drops the bombshell: He knew Theo from fourth grade — and “that’s not Theo.”

Mason has his own passion project, which involves figuring out what the Berserkers are. Liam tries to play it cool, but he’s clearly not going to make Mason forget what he saw. Meanwhile, Liam sees an old friend at school, and she’s “vengeful” about what happened in sixth grade. At the same time, Scott is in AP biology, to the surprise of Lydia and Kira, and although he has a tough teacher, he he’s determined to stay in the class.

Tracy is at her locker when things start getting crazy. Black blood seeps out of the lockers and a Doctor crawls out of it. Luckily, Lydia notices and takes her outside. We see there are claw marks on her locker door.

In the locker room, Theo fills Scott and Stiles in on how he was bitten. He was skating in an empty pool when an Alpha came for him. By the time his first full moon rolled around, though, the Alpha had been killed — by two of his betas, the twins Ethan and Aiden. Theo’s been on his own this whole time, and despite the omega’s calm demeanor, Stiles still doesn’t trust him.

Lydia gets Parrish to check in on Tracy. He doesn’t let her know he finds anything, but her roof is covered in dead birds. At school, Malia is learning to drive (and it’s not going well), while Stiles checks the signatures between two different documents signed by Theo’s father. They’re not the same.

Parrish decides to keep an eye on Tracy’s place for the night, and Lydia offers to bring him coffee. While he’s on duty, Liam and Stiles go out into the woods to follow Theo. Liam falls into a hole and finds a necklace, but before he can grab it, the pair spot Theo, who leaves a flower for his sister who died due to exposure. They try to sneak away and give him space, but Theo finds them and tells Stiles he came back for him, too. He wants a friend like Stiles, and together they wonder if Theo’s dad is an impostor.

Tracey’s dad boards up her window, but we have a feeling that’s not going to stop anyone (or anything). Scott and Stiles fight because Scott trusts everyone and Stiles trusts no one, and when Stiles gets so mad he punches his car, Scott patiently heals him (#Skittles). We then see Tracy exit her house in a trance — totally unnoticed by Deputy Parrish.

Liam returns to the school to talk to Mason, but before he can, a wolf chases them through the halls of Beacon Hills High. Liam uses his powers to send the animal running, and there’s no doubt the werewolf is out of the bag now. At least Mason looks excited.

Oh, and Theo can totally turn into a wolf. How is that possible!?

Tracy wakes up in the lab and gets injected by the Dread Doctors. It looks like she’s being turned into a werewolf, and each time she’s been hallucinating, she’s also been struggling with the change.

At home, Sheriff Stilinski still thinks Stiles is jumping the gun with Theo. “Proof always trumps instinct,” he says. It’s then that Stiles notices Sheriff Stilinski is not wearing his wedding ring anymore, but instead of talking about it, the sheriff says, “If they’re really guilty, eventually they’ll make a mistake. They always make a mistake.”

And it’s true. A mistake has been made. The signatures on Theo’s paperwork are not identical and he decides to punish his “father” by breaking his hand with a hammer. A cast would explain the differences, right?

Guess that also answers whether or not we can trust Theo.
