Ted 2, starring Mark Wahlberg, Seth Macfarlane, and Mila Kunis, has its sequel set for an April 3, 2015 release date.

Seth MacFarlane, director and actor of Ted, has announced via Twitter that the sequel to his hit film will be headed to theaters in April 3, 2015. The actor discussed taking on Ted 2 back at Comic-Con 2012, and now it looks like it’s official.

The man with a million voices has “been open to making Ted 2” since the film that he and Wahlberg co-starred in became the highest grossing R-rated comedy of all time. There was really no question of if a Ted sequel would be made; just when we would be seeing it hit theaters.

Ted made a ridiculous $549 million at the worldwide box office – pulling in over $200 million just in domestic ticket sales. The R-rated comedy resonated with a massive audience and the cussing thunder-buddies created one liners that lasted for months after the film left theaters.

There’s no telling where Macfarlane will be taking Ted and Wahlberg’s character in the sequel, but his tweet below confirms the film’s 2015 summer release date:

For any fans unfamiliar with “Passover,” it technically means the time between April 3 and April 11, but he looks to be pointing towards April 3.

We imagine fans are a bit disappointed that its release date is so far away, but both Wahlberg and Macfarlane are some of the busiest actors in Hollywood right now.

What’s also interesting is that 2015 is quickly becoming a very crowded time for some major film releases. With Avengers: Age of Ultron, Superman Vs. Batman, Pirates 5, and Avatar 2 all coming out in 2015 – Ted 2 will have some stiff competition.

We look forward to seeing the thunder buddies back on the big screen again, and we imagine Ted 2 will be another blockbuster for Seth Macfarlane and Mark Wahlberg when it hits theaters on April 3, 2015.
