Tearaway is the next project from Media Molecule, the makers of LittleBigPlanet. This latest gameplay trailer gives us a look into the world of Tearaway.

We get an extensive look at Tearaway‘s distinctive art-style – paper, paper and more paper – plus a quick glimpse at how players can interact with the PS Vita and have a direct impact on the world, effectively punching holes in the paper to help out their character.

Tearaway was announced last August at Gamescom, where a debut trailer was unveiled.

Tearaway‘s main character is iota, who has an envelope for a head that contains a message that is unique to each player. This latest trailer gives us a first look at atoi, a female character that players can choose instead of iota, if you don’t find iota adorable enough. Over on the PlayStation blog, there’s plenty of screenshots to check out, and there’s also details of a Tearaway themed mask-making competition.

Media Molecule, a Guildford, U.K., based developer, are known for their work on LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet2, but handed over development of that franchise to other developers. LittleBigPlanet Karting released last November, two months after a PS Vita version of LBP launched.

Tearaway is due to launch sometime this year, exclusively on the PS Vita.
