Hot on the heels of their long-awaited A Very Potter Senior Year announcement, Team StarKid have dropped some news of a very different, yet exciting kind. In a video announcement today, the group revealed their new production Airport For Birds, a sketch comedy show which will be filling a prime-time slot at one of the legendary Second City’s comedy clubs.

“Have you ever had an idea that was so clear it required no explanation?” Team StarKid asks. “An idea so interesting it changed the way you thought about the world? An idea so funny that it set the world laughing? ……. Neither have we.”

Airport For Birds (And Other Great Ideas) will take place in Chicago, at Second City’s Up Comedy Club on a weekly basis, running Sundays at 7pm from January 27 – March 3. It will feature StarKid regulars Chris Allen, Jaime Lyn Beatty, Jeff Blim, Denise Donovan, Brian Holden, Lauren Lopez, Meredith Stepien, Nicholas Strauss and Joe Walker, as well as Daniel Strauss and Pat Rourke.

Second City bills itself as “the world’s premier comedy club/theatre and school of improvisation,” and Zagat calls it “the most famous of its kind in the country.” Alumni include Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Castellaneta, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Eric Stonestreet, Steve Carell, Amy Sedaris, and Stephen Colbert. It is safe to say that by being accepted to produce a show here, Team StarKid is now playing with the big guns on the world comedy stage.

Team StarKid had this to say about the content of their new sketch show:
