Taylor Swift’s Netflix documentary Miss Americana has just released its first trailer, giving fans an intimate look at their favorite pop star.

Swifties worldwide will get to go behind the scenes with the international superstar in the upcoming Netflix documentary Miss Americana.

The trailer, which dropped earlier today, follows pop star Taylor Swift over the past few years and allows fans into Swift’s world in a way they’ve never been allowed before. This includes her tumultuous 2016, which led Swift to essentially disappear from public life for a year.

The trailer highlights the stress of fame and celebrity, going behind the curtain and seeing how Swift built up her media empire — and the ways in which she felt forced to take on a ‘nice girl’ persona that eventually felt stifling to her.

The official Netflix synopsis for Miss Americana describes the film as being about Taylor Swift embracing her role as a songwriter and performer — and as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice. The documentary is directed by American documentary filmmaker Lana Wilson and features clips from all the recent ups and downs of Swift’s public and private life.

News about the documentary originally broke in a rather unorthodox way, as Swift announced the documentary was on the way in the midst of her public battle for her masters.

“This isn’t the way I had planned on telling you this news,” she tweeted out in November, “[but] Netflix has created a documentary about my life for the past few years. Scott and Scooter have declined the use of my older music or performance footage for this project, even though there is no mention of either of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film.”

Since then, Variety reported that Swift’s songs “have been cleared” for use in the documentary, which means fans will get to hear Swift’s full filmography.

Taylor Swift’s Miss Americana will have its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next week, and will arrive on January 31 on Netflix and in select theaters.
