Taylor Swift took to Yahoo and hosted a live stream event where she premiered her brand new single, “Shake It Off” and announced the release of her new album, 1989.

Fans of Taylor Swift have been on the edge of their seats waiting to see what the singer would announce on her mysterious Yahoo live stream event that took place on Monday, August 18 at 5 p.m. ET, and the singer did not disappoint! On top of treating fans who tuned in to a catchy, brand new single called “Shake It Off,” the former country songbird also announced that her new album would be called 1989, and would be released on October 27.

Speaking of her new upcoming album during the live stream, Taylor divulged that she had been working on new material for the past two years, something that has become something of a trend for her. “I like to work on [albums] for two years because it gives you time to change,” confessed Swift to audience members and to fans who tuned in all over the world.

The singer also braced her loyal following for what they can expect from the upcoming album, which Swift named in commemoration of the year she was born, and warned fans that she considers 1989 to be her first official pop album. “We have made the most sonically cohesive album I’ve ever made — it’s my favorite!” exclaimed the singer, who also went on to say she was very inspired by late ’80s pop music while she was working on her new music.

Finally, Swift wrapped things up by premiering a brand new music video for her new single, “Shake It Off.” With its haters-gonna-hate message, and a toe tapping melody that is very much along the same vein as Pharrell’s monster hit, “Happy,” we wouldn’t be surprised if Swift’s new single shoots straight to the top of the charts and becomes the sleeper hit of the summer.
