In a new video about Merlin, author T.A. Barron has one simple question for the wizard: What is the meaning of life?

“If you could know the seven most magical words in the universe, would you want to?”

That’s the question the video below asks its viewers. T.A. Barron, author of The Lost Years of Merlin saga, wants to know what the meaning of life is, and if he ever got a chance to talk to Merlin, that’s exactly what Barron would ask him.

So, according to Barron, what would Merlin say? “He’d look at me with eyes both very old and very young,” says Barron in the video, “and he’d say, ‘That won’t take long, lad. The answer has just seven words, and they are the most magical words in the universe.'”

Those seven words are gratitude, courage, knowledge, belief, wonder, generosity, and hope. And there’s only one word that gives strength to all of them at once: love.

If you’ve read Barron’s The Lost Years of Merlin saga, you’ll find each of those words within the pages of every book in the series. In addition, you’ll also find that love is laced within each paragraph, each sentence, and each syllable. Without love, all of the other seven words would not be nearly as strong, and not nearly as enticing.

The short video above is just the beginning. There will be two more videos to come, the first focusing on courage, and the second focusing on knowledge. Those will appear on his Facebook and YouTube pages next week.

Barron hopes to make this idea into a book of some sort. There’s no word yet on what the book will entail, but for those that miss Merlin and his infinite wisdom (even if that did come later in his story), this is certainly something to look forward to.

Do you think Merlin’s take on the seven most magical words in the universe is accurate?
