In a new set of videos, author T.A. Barron explains how his book Atlantis Rising is different, introduces the two main characters, and more.

Barron begins the first video by saying, “Atlantis Rising is going to be different than any other story about Atlantis, because instead of focusing on the destruction of this magical island, this lost civilization, I’m going to focus on its creation.”

In the second video, Barron compares his new trilogy about Atlantis to his Merlin saga, which contains 12 books. He explains that although it was a very different sort of myth, the roots of both stories were intertwined.

“Even if it’s been difficult to wrap my mind around something new and challenging,” Barron says, “I have loved it.” He even says that he is as close to Promi and Atlanta, the two main characters in Atlantis Rising, as he ever was to Merlin.

Speaking of Promi and Atlanta, in the final video, Barron introduces them and explains what fans can look forward to in terms of their personalities and destinies.

“[They] have no idea that they might actually have something heroic inside themselves,” he explains. “It’s only when the world collapses around them and they’re thrown together and ultimately work together to save Atlantis — when that all happens, though, they still don’t think of themselves as heroes. Because each of them is full of doubt, vulnerability, flaws.”

Fans of The Lost Years of Merlin will definitely see the connection between these two characters and Merlin.
