The final season of Merlin is currently airing in the U.S., but sadly American fans have to wait a bit longer than expected for the conclusion of the series.

There was some confusion among fans last Friday when The Syfy Channel did not air the Merlin episode 5×09 “With All My Heart” as expected. On the channel’s website, the schedule changed to reflect the missing week, with this episode of Merlin moved to today.

However, now the network has revealed its intention to hold the final five episodes back for two months, with “With All My Heart” scheduled to air May 3.

But there’s good news, too! We have confirmed with Syfy that after the show returns, there should be no more breaks leading up to the final episode, which will air May 31.

We are not exactly sure how or why this decision was made, considering that the BBC aired the final episode of Merlin last year, on Christmas Eve, and that American fans have already had to wait a significant period of time to watch the last season of the show.

However, we hope that those of you in America who are still waiting to watch the final five episodes of Merlin will be able to avoid spoilers for this extended period of time, until you are able to see for yourselves how it all ends.

When Merlin returns, “With All My Heart” will air at the usual time of 10/9c. It is a big episode for Arthur (Bradley James) and Guinevere (Angel Coulby): when the King finds out that his wife has been bespelled to kill him, he sets out with Merlin (Colin Morgan) and Mordred (Alexander Vlahos) to find a way to cure Gwen of Morgana (Katie McGrath)’s enchantment.

After this, there are only two episodes to go (“The Kindness of Strangers” and “The Drawing of the Dark”) before the two-part series finale, mysteriously titled “The Diamond of the Day.”

Note that if you’re worried about having to wait until May to watch these episodes, the complete final season of Merlin will be released on DVD on April 9 in the U.S.
