Sweet Magnolias season 2 is officially a go over at Netflix!

According to Deadline, Netflix has officially renewed Sweet Magnolias for a second season.

Based on the novel by Sherryl Woods of the same name, the Netflix series follows three women who live in the small town of Serenity, South Carolina.

Maddie (Joanna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), and Helen (Heather Headley) who’ve been friends since childhood. Now adults, the trio struggle to juggle everything from relationships and family, to their respective careers.

Helmed by showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson (Ties That Bind), all 10 episodes of the series first season debuted via Netflix on May 19, 2020.

The series took to its official Twitter account shortly after the big news broke to share word of a season 2 renewal with fans far and wide.

“We’re going back to Serenity! SWEET MAGNOLIAS has been renewed for season 2,” tweeted the show. “Thank you for your support, enthusiasm…and questions.”

The show paired its tweet with a group shot featuring the entire cast and crew.

Meanwhile, the series writers took to their own Twitter account to reveal a bit more good news: when season 2 of the series eventually hits Netflix, fans can expect to sink their teeth into 10 more episodes.

“Pour it out! #SweetMagnolias is officially coming back for season 2! We can’t wait to welcome y’all back to Serenity with Maddie, Dana Sue, Helen, and the whole gang,” tweeted the writers. “Ten more episodes of margaritas, love, and a few surprises.”
