Suraj Sharma, best known for his role as Pi in Life of Pi, will star in Million Dollar Arm along side Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Life of Pi Suraj Sharma will join Jon Hamm in Million Dollar Arm, a based on a true story baseball drama from Disney. This will be Sharma’s first big role since his Life of Pi debut.

Million Dollar Arm stars Jon Hamm as sports agent J.B. Bernstein who created a reality TV show in India. The show, Million Dollar Arm, auditioned 40,000 cricket players to see how they’d do at pitching in baseball. The two sports use similar arm mechanics. Bernstein discovered two pitchers in particular, Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh, and Sharma will play one of the two pitchers.

Along side Jon Jamm and Suraj Sharma, Million Dollar Arm also stars Alan Arkin (Argo) as an aging baseball scout. Million Dollar Arm will be directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) with screenplay by Thomas McCarthy (Up).

Million Dollar Arm is set to be shot in India and then Atlanta, starting in May. The cast has us excited, and we’ll be sure to watch for updates.
