The CW has released an intense trailer for the November sweeps episodes of Supernatural, teasing heightened tension between Sam and Dean as well as Castiel’s return from Purgatory.

TVLine has the trailer:

This promo, which spans several episodes, teases Sam and Dean working with Garth, who has become the “new Bobby” in the year the brothers had been away from hunting. Garth notices the tension between the Winchesters over Dean’s friendship with Benny and the fact that Sam quit hunting for a year.

Dean tells Sam that not only is Benny the reason he is alive, but he is also Dean’s friend. Sam, on the other hand, argues that he was straightforward with Dean about why he didn’t look for him while Dean was keeping secrets.

If Supernatural knows how to do one thing well, it’s creating tension between its lead characters. “Just seems to me that you and Dean are talking to each other but no one is listening,” Garth tells Sam, as the trailer ends with Dean pointing a gun at Sam, saying that Sam should have looked for him while he was in Purgatory.

We can’t wait to see the resolution of this twist!

The other big teaser is that of Castiel’s return. It seems that Castiel has no memory of how he escaped from Purgatory, but he claims that he wants to become a hunter. There is also a confrontation between Castiel and Crowley, with Kevin looking on, over what looks like the Word of God tablet.

Since Castiel betrayed Crowley at the end of season 6, tensions have run high between them, so we can’t wait to see what will happen between them.
