Supernatural‘s Jim Beaver made a triumphant (sort of) return in last night’s episode, and he’s been talking about Bobby’s future on the show in a number of new interviews. Beware of spoilers.

Speaking about the rest of the season Beaver reveals that he’ll definitely continue to appear, and further tells E! Online:

The rest of the season is going to be about trying to resolve the fight against the Leviathans… But Bobby’s other task is to forestall or thwart the fates that normally condemn ghosts to become vengeful, angry spirits who are not in control of their actions.

He also says that he’ll be all for Bobby finding a way to return to the land of the living:

It’s kind of interesting playing this new stuff, but on the other hand I’m a little tired of getting spray-painted white every morning. If I can figure out a way to “invigorate” Bobby, that’s OK with me!

Beaver also remains hopeful about an eighth season (and curiously about working on it), and comments on the recent showrunner switch-up:

I hate to see [current showrunner] Sera [Gamble] go, but Jeremy [Carver]’s a great guy. I’m looking forward to working with him if I get the chance next year. He’s been such a strong part of Supernaturalin the past [so] it’s good to have him back.

Speaking to EW, Beaver teases the season 7 finale, and says that while we can expect a payoff,

I know nothing ever turns out exactly how I think it’s going to turn out when I’m guessing what’s next. When I’m guessing what’s going to be in the next script I’m always surprised. I imagine the audience will be too.

A season 8 pick-up hasn’t been confirmed by The CW, but it seems very likely at this point! Let’s hope they bring Bobby back, too.
