Previously, Abaddon took advantage of Crowley’s lingering humanity by using his son against him. Crowley gave the Winchesters the location of the First Blade and lured them to the penthouse where he and Abaddon were waiting; however, he warned Dean with a code word.
Once at the hotel, Dean faced off against Abaddon. Using the power of the Mark of Cain, he fought against her hold and killed her, giving into the bloodlust of the Blade.
Meanwhile, Castiel discovered he has a traitor among his followers. He reached out to Gadreel in the hope of getting him to report back on Metatron’s plans. He also learned that Metatron has a secret portal to Heaven that moves around.

TESSA THE REAPER RETURNS — After a massive attack on the angels, Castiel (Misha Collins) calls Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) for help. As they leave, Dean’s eagerness to bring the First Blade doesn’t go unnoticed by Sam who is worried about the cost to his brother whenever he uses the Blade. Meanwhile, Castiel is shocked when he learns the angel that caused the attack was one of his followers and did it in his name. Dean discovers there is a conspiracy amongst Castiel’s angel followers and at the heart of it is Tessa, the Reaper. Guy Bee directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb (#922).
