Supernatural season 9, episode 10 “Road Trip” airs tonight, with Dean desperate to save his brother from Gadreel.
The Road So Far
In the wake of the trials, Dean made a deal with Ezekiel, a wounded angel, to save a dying Sam. Ezekiel possessed Sam to heal him from within, while also healing himself. It turned out, however, that Ezekiel was actually an disgraced angel named Gadreel who was freed in the fall.
When Metatron returned to Earth to recruit Gadreel to his cause to rebuild Heaven, Gadreel agreed. Metatron, though, demanded that Gadreel prove his loyalty by disposing of threats to his cause. After completely suppressing Sam’s consciousness in his own body, Gadreel’s first target — and victim — was Kevin.
Castiel, meanwhile, was taken captive by one of the two warring factions of angels on Earth. But he killed one of his captors and took his grace, giving him an angelic power up. However, he warned Dean that it would probably be best if they stayed apart for the time being.

DEAN’S BEST CHANCE OF SAVING SAM LIES WITH CROWLEY — Dean (Jensen Ackles) is devastated after Kevin’s death and vows to find the angel that killed him, not only to free Sam (Jared Padalecki), but to seek revenge. Castiel (Misha Collins) arrives at the bunker and suggests they try to separate Sam’s brain from the angel’s so they can talk to Sam and have him expel Gadreel. However, there’s one small problem: the only person who knows how to do that is Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Robert Singer directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb (910).
