A sneak peek from the Supernatural season 9 premiere, titled “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here,” shows Dean praying for help.

This sneak peek, originally from the Huffington Post, shows Dean desperately praying for help for Sam.

Sitting in a church, Dean begins praying to Castiel because Sam’s condition has worsened in the wake of the aborted third trial. He says that they will work out what did or did not happen to make the angels fall, as long as Cas would show up to help Sam.

Of course, unbeknownst to Dean, Castiel is now human and unable to hear prayers, so he does not answer.

In the wake of the silence, Dean instead decides to pray to any angels “with their ears on.” Mood completely shifted, he says, “This is Dean Winchester, and I need your help.”

The synopsis for the Supernatural season 9 premiere reads:

FALLEN ANGELS — Dean (Jensen Ackles) is frantic after Sam (Jared Padalecki) collapses and the doctor tells Dean his brother won’t make it. Desperate, Dean sends out an all points bulletin via prayer to every angel in the area, asking them to help his brother. In exchange, Dean will owe that angel a favor. Numerous angry angels race to find and kill Dean, but one, Ezekiel (guest star Tahmoh Penikett), gets to him first. Meanwhile, Sam fights for his life and must face some familiar demons to do so. Castiel (Misha Collins) struggles to survive without powers.

Supernatural season 9, episode 1 “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here” airs Tuesday, October 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
