We got some teases about Supernatural season 11 from Comic-Con. We look at five highlights from the packed Hall H panel.

A major highlight of the panel, which featured executive producers Jeremy Carver and Andrew Dabb and stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard, were the moderators: Supernatural alums Richard Speight, Jr. (Gabriel) and Rob Benedict (Chuck Shurley). The pair kept the laughs coming.

So, what did we learn from the panel in between laughs?

The brothers

According to Carver, season 11 will feature a return to the brothers being “really, really united” with a common enemy: The Darkness, which was released at the end of season 10. “It’s a pre-biblical story that’s never been told,” Carver said.

“We’re really proud of last season,” he added. “We had a lot of intensely personal character stories. This year, we are going to have a little bit more of an epic feel with a Big Bad and a real quest for the brothers to unite.”

“Now we’re left with the clean-up” following the removal of the Mark of Cain,” Ackles explained. “Now it’s figuring out how to deal with the decisions we have made. What I like about where we’re going is the brothers are united, similar to season 1, when we were looking for Dad. We’re back to normal so to speak and we have a common target.”

“We’re dealing with something much bigger and badder,” Padalecki said of The Darkness. But “I think we’ll beat it. Because we’re not the Lose-chesters,” he joked.

“The problem is we’re slowly becoming the Lose-chesters,” Ackles retorted.

Furthermore, Castiel will be united with the brothers against The Darkness.

Fan favorites will return

As is the case with Supernatural, fan favorite characters — alive and dead — weave in and out of the narrative. Season 11 will be no different.

“They’re coming back in surprise ways,” Carver promised, though he didn’t elaborate on which ones. We’re pretty sure Speight, Jr. and Benedict were campaigning for it to be them, though.

Episode 4 will be fun

When asked about the themed episodes Supernatural is so well-known for, Dabb teased that episode 4 will be fun in that same vein.

Crowley

We last saw Crowley being attacked by Castiel, who Rowena cast an attack dog spell on to attack the King of Hell. His fate was left up in the air at the end of the season.

“I’m pretty dead…it’s kind of what happens,” Sheppard said. “It’s been an amazing journey. I showed up as a guest star kissing a tall man on a bridge, and it’s been the best experience.” Somehow, we’re not buying it, Mark.

He went on to add, “[E]ven if I knew what happened, I wouldn’t damn well tell you.”

That much we do believe.

Always Keep Fighting

In a touching support of Padalecki’s #AlwaysKeepFighting campaign, fans held up electric tealights that had been passed out before the panel.

Once he realized the candles were for him, Padalecki was overwhelmed. “I don’t have the proper words to say thank you,” he told the crowd at the end of the panel.

Supernatural season 11 premieres Wednesday, October 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
