Supernatural season 11 has tapped Nate Torrence to play a figure from Sam’s past.

Torrence will play Sully, Sam’s childhood imaginary friend, in Supernatural season 11, episode 8, which will be titled “Just My Imagination,” reports Variety.

Sully will appear to Sam and Dean because he needs their help.

Supernatural previously addressed imaginary friends in season 2’s “Playthings,” though that child’s imaginary friend turned out to be a ghost. This, however, seems to be something completely different. Moreover, what kind of help could an imaginary friend need?

Torrence’s other credits include Weird Loners, Hello Ladies and Mr. Sunshine. He has also voiced characters in Star vs. The Forces of Evil and Motorcity.

As a fun aside, the episode will be directed by Supernatural alum Richard Speight, Jr., who fans will know as The Trickster/Gabriel.

Additionally, The CW has released a short Supernatural season 11 preview video featuring EP Jeremy Carver. Watch the clip below:

In the video, Carver reminds us where season 10 left off and encourages us to look at the first two episodes of season 11 as a single, Darkness-centric arc. Beyond how the brothers react to this new evil, we’ll also find out the fates of Crowley and Castiel in the wake of Rowena casting the attack spell on Castiel and siccing him on Crowley.

Supernatural season 11 premieres Wednesday, October 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
