A Mentalist alum will be joining Supernatural season 11 in a recurring role.

Emily Swallow has been tapped to play Amara, who is being described as a “seductive and sinister” femme fatale.

Little else is known about Amara, including whether she is connected to The Darkness, which the Winchesters released in the season 10 finale after killing Death and curing Dean of the Mark of Cain. The Darkness was a pre-biblical evil that God and the archangels fought and eventually defeated. The Mark was the lock to The Darkness’ prison, and removing it from a host released said evil.

Swallow’s other credits include Southland, Ringer and Monday Mornings.

At Comic-Con, executive producer Jeremy Carver said of The Darkness, “It’s a pre-biblical story that’s never been told.” He added that season 11 will “have a little bit more of an epic feel with a Big Bad and a real quest for the brothers to unite.”

According to EP Andrew Dabb, “The nice thing about something as big as the Darkness is that it creates a really big ripple effect. And so you’re going to see how it impacts both our guys and the world of hunting. We’re also going to see how it impacts Heaven and Hell and monsters and demons and witches and everything else. And everyone is going to come together.”

He added, “Now, some people are going to see it as an advantage. Some people are going to want to fight it. We’re going to make allies where maybe we haven’t made allies in the past.”

Supernatural season 11 premieres Wednesday, October 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
