In a new sneak peek, Supernatural executive producers Jeremy Carver and Robert Singer tease what fans can look forward to in the first half of season 10.

In this sneak peek from iTunes, Carver and Singer discuss the upcoming season, while we also get a fair amount of new footage:

The EPs tease that season 10 will pick up a few weeks after the end of season 9. Sam is on the hunt for his brother, while Dean is “howling at the moon” with Crowley. Dean will be particularly dark at first, the producers tease, though his journey for the season will be learning how to be a hero again.

Sam, meanwhile, is on a dark path of his own as he looks for his brother. We also get to see the moment Sam discovers that Dean has become a demon — and it’s about as heartbreaking as we expected!

The producers also tease that Crowley has his own plan for Dean, though we don’t know what it is yet.

We see a bit of footage of a new hunter on the scene, Cole, who is on a mission to kill Dean, as well.

Meanwhile, Castiel has his own issues to deal with — namely, his fading grace. The producers indicate that Castiel will be spending much of his time with fellow angel Hannah, who is growing quite attached to him.

Other things we can expect in season 10 include a The Heat-inspired buddy cop episode with two female sheriffs (we’re guessing this will star Jody Mills and Donna Hanscum), an Agatha Christie-inspired locked-room murder mystery, the “musical-ish” 200th episode, and Charlie’s (Felicia Day) return.

“It’s a landmark season, but we’re going about our business basically the way we go about it every season: just tell the best stories we can,” Singer says. “So, we’ve got a good beginning to the season. As far as the last half, we’ll have to figure that out.”

Supernatural season 10 premieres Tuesday, October 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
