The Supernatural cast and crew have once again released a “rogue” promo, this one for the second half of season 11.

This trailer was posted on the same Youtube account that the cast and crew claimed when they posted a Supernatural season 11 trailer set to “O, Death” in the fall. Eventually, that trailer was picked up by the official CW Youtube account, and this one likely will be as well.

Until then, check out this new Supernatural mid-season trailer:

Based on the trailer, it looks as though Lucifer may possess Castiel, which leaves Sam free to escape. Could this be Castiel still paying penance for leaving Sam’s soul in the Cage after bringing his body out between seasons 5 and 6?

It also seems to ignore the fact that angels are tied to certain family lines — like Michael and Lucifer to the Winchester family line. Dean was Michael’s true vessel and Sam Lucifer’s. While Jimmy’s soul is no longer present in the body Castiel is possessing, that body is still not meant for Lucifer, so it seems unlikely it would hold up — as we saw Nick’s body decay while being possessed by Lucifer.

The brothers are determined to save Castiel as well as “ice the Devil,” which is a familiar refrain from season 5.

We also see some scenes from upcoming episodes, including Dean on a submarine — another time travel episode, perhaps — and a wrestling match. We also see Crowley, Rowena and Amara in various shots.

Supernatural returns Wednesday, January 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
