Perennial Comic-Con attendee Supernatural will mark the occasion this year with two special edition TV Guide covers.
Earlier, we shared the special TV Guide covers for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. We now also have covers for fellow CW show Supernatural, featuring Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles).
Never fear, Supernatural fans; these special TV Guide editions will be flip covers, so there will be no need to choose between the Winchester brothers when picking up your issue.
If you are unable to make it to Comic-Con, the special Comic-Con editions will be on sale at newsstands on July 17. They will also be available through digital platforms, including iPad, Nook, Kindle Fire, Zinio and Google.
Supernatural‘s panel at San Diego Comic-Con will take place on Sunday, July 21 at 10:00 a.m. in Hall H. In previewing season 9, Padalecki and Ackles will be joined by Misha Collins (Castiel), Mark Sheppard (Crowley), and executive producer Jeremy Carver.
Collins was promoted to series regular and is also slated to direct an episode in season 9. Unfortunately, this year’s panel will be sans fan favorite writer Ben Edlund, as he departed Supernatural to join the writing staff on Supernatural creator Eric Kripke’s current project, Revolution.
Supernatural‘s eighth season ended with rogue angel Metatron closing the gates of Heaven, forcing the remaining angels to fall to Earth. He also stole Castiel’s grace, leaving him human. Meanwhile, Dean prevented Sam from completing the third trial — to cure a demon — to shut the gates of Hell because the trial would have been fatal.
Supernatural season 9 will air on Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. this fall, following freshman series The Originals.
