In the above stills, we see Sam and Dean caught up in the middle of a conflict between mythological figures – Artmeis, Prometheus, and Zeus.

According to the synopsis, this episode involves Sam and Dean “investigat[ing] a possible zombie case where an amnesiac man dies and then revives himself once a day.” After the man “is attacked by the goddess Artemis,” the brothers “realize he’s not a zombie but instead a God, more specifically, Prometheus.”

In Greek mythology, Prometheus was a Titan recognized as a champion of humanity. He is best known for stealing fire from Zeus for humanity’s use. Zeus sentenced him to suffer for eternity as punishment; Prometheus was tied to a rock and each day an eagle would eat his liver. His liver would then grow back again to be eaten the next day.

Artemis, on the other hand, was goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, and fertility. She was also Apollo’s – the sun god’s – twin, and in some versions of the Prometheus myth, Artemis and Apollo petitioned Zeus to allow Hercules to rescue the Titan from his punishment.

We’re looking forward to seeing how Supernatural twists this well-known myth!

“Remember the Titans” airs Wednesday, February 27 at 9 p.m. ET.
