The CW has released a preview and a sneak peek from the fifth episode of Supernatural‘s eighth season, “Blood Brother.”

According to the episode synopsis, this episode will involve Benny calling Dean for help after he “gets brutally beat up by some vampires.” Dean, as seen in this clip, tells Sam “that he’s taking a ‘personal day'” and leaves his confused and irritated brother behind.

Dean offers his help when “Benny confesses that he’s going after his Maker,” but “when things go bad for Dean and Benny, Dean calls Sam for help,” a meeting seen in the episode’s promo stills.

This episode will also feature flashbacks to the brothers’ year apart as Dean considers all the times Benny helped him and Castiel in Purgatory while Sam “uses his solo time to reflect on the life he left behind with Amelia.”

It’s apparent that Dean is still hurting over Sam’s decision to quit hunting as he snaps at his brother while keeping the real reason for his sudden departure a secret. Considering the way Dean reacted to Sam working with Ruby in season 4, we’re not expecting Sam to be pleased to learn Dean has befriended a vampire.
