On the heels of Supernatural‘s season 8 premiere, The CW has released 13 episode stills from the season’s third episode, “Heartache.”

TVOvermind has the stills from the episode Dean Winchester himself, Jensen Ackles, directed:

In these shots, we see Sam and Dean suited up in their familiar FBI guises as well as trying to break into a risque location called The Bunny Hole (we don’t think Dean is going to mind that part of the job too much). We also see Sam, Amelia, and the dog Sam rescued in what is likely a flashback to the missing year between seasons 7 and 8. There is also a behind-the-scenes shot of Ackles and a guest star.

We reported earlier on the official episode description:

JENSEN ACKLES DIRECTS — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a string of unusual murders where the victims were all recipients of organs from the same donor. The killer is captured, but things become even more complicated when the brothers find their killer in a trance mumbling an ancient prayer. Jensen Ackles directed the episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming (#801).

This marks the third Supernatural epiosde that Ackles has directed. He also helmed season 6’s “Weekend at Bobby’s” and season 7’s “The Girl Next Door.”

“Heartache” will air on Wednesday, October 17 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
