Supernatural season 11, episode 12, “Don’t You Forget About Me,” will focus on a group of fan-favorite female characters.
Tonight’s episode features the return of Sheriff Jody Mills; her adoptive daughter, Alex; and latest charge, Claire. We do a brief rundown of each character as a reminder.
Sheriff Jody Mills
We first met Jody back in season 5’s “Dead Man Don’t Wear Plaid,” as the sheriff of Bobby’s hometown Sioux Falls. When Death arrived in town and the dead rose, Jody’s son came back to life. However, he gruesomely killed Jody’s husband, though Sam arrived to help her before she could become a victim as well. She’s come in and out of the Winchesters’ lives since then, always as a motherly ally who has become a hunter in her own right. She and Bobby were potentially on the road to getting together before Bobby’s death in season 7.
Alex Jones
We met Alex (born Annie, but going by Alex) in season 9’s “Alex Annie Alexis Ann.” She was kidnapped in 2006 by a nest of vampires, but instead of turning her, they used her as a lure for potential victims as well as for her own blood.
The Winchesters and Jody tried to rescue her, but she was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome after so long in captivity. The vampires then turned her, but she refused to drink from Jody, who was kind to her. Rather than help her vampire mother kill Jody, though, Alex injected her with dead man’s blood and Jody decapitated her. The Winchesters gave her the vampire cure and Jody helped her recover then took her in.
Claire Novak
Claire is the daughter of Jimmy Novak, Castiel’s vessel. We first met her in season 4’s “The Rapture” as a young girl. She was temporarily possessed by Castiel before Jimmy begged the angel to use him instead to spare his daughter. She returned in season 10 as an angry teenage delinquent. Her mother, Amelia, went missing not long after Castiel took over Jimmy permanently, and Claire got in over her head with some shady characters. The Winchesters and Castiel tried to help her out, but she wasn’t interested. Dean, under the influence of the Mark of Cain, eventually slaughtered these men.
Later, the Winchesters and Castiel helped her find Amelia. Claire and Dean bonded in the process, despite Claire having previously attempted to get Dean killed. Eventually they found Amelia, who had been held captive by Grigori, which are a type of angel that feed on humanity. They tried to free Amelia, but she was killed protecting Claire and was reunited with Jimmy in Heaven. The Winchesters then sent Claire to live with Jody, and Claire finally forgave Castiel for his role in Jimmy’s death.
