Supernatural season 11, episode 9, “O Brother Where Art Thou?,” airs tonight, as Sam investigates the Cage and Dean faces Amara.

The Road So Far

The Winchesters discovered that Crowley had Amara and deduced their location based on Amara sightings: an abandoned asylum. They broke in and while Sam dealt with demon guards (mostly non-fatally), Dean went after Amara. However, Crowley confronted him and was finally prepared to kill Dean… until Amara stopped him. Her power had exceeded Crowley’s, and she forced him to agree to let both her and Dean leave. The strange connection between Dean and Amara, however, was broken when Sam burst into the room and Amara threw him into a wall. Dean attacked and Amara knocked him out before going out on her own.

Meanwhile, Castiel got a lead on Metatron’s location, so hunted him down and beat some answers about the Darkness out of him. It turns out that The Darkness is God’s sister, and he had to sacrifice her to create the world. And Sam had a vision of the Cage.

After this, the Winchesters worked a couple of smaller cases including a ghost possession and the murders of imaginary friends.
