A deceased fan favorite character will be returning for next week’s episode of Supernatural.

Death is never the end for a character on Supernatural, and next week will be proof of that. Jim Beaver will be appearing on Supernatural season 10, episode 17, “Inside Man.” Though the episode will air on Wednesday, April 1, this is no April Fool’s joke.

Beaver, who plays the Winchester brothers’ late, surrogate father, Bobby Singer, will return to the series when Sam and Castiel need help from someone in heaven. Bobby, who died in season 7’s “Death’s Door” and had his soul released into heaven in season 8’s “Taxi Driver,” is an obvious choice to fulfil that role.

Meanwhile in this episode, Dean will face off against Rowena, Crowley’s long-lost, witchy mother.

Beaver made his first appearance on Supernatural in season 1’s “Devil’s Trap” as an old family friend of the Winchesters. His role was initially meant to be a single appearance, but the role expanded into an essential part of the Supernatural family and a parental figure to Sam and Dean.

Beaver last appeared on Supernatural in season 9, episode 1, “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here,” as a manifestation of a comatose Sam’s psyche. He is currently starring in Verdigris, a play he also wrote, in Los Angeles. He will appear in the upcoming film Crimson Peak alongside Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, and Jessica Chastain as well.

Supernatural airs Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
