Supernatural season 10, episode 16, “Paint It Black,” airs tonight, as the Winchesters hunt at a church and Rowena makes a power play.

The Road So Far

When killing Cain didn’t remove the burden of the Mark from Dean, Sam continued researching despite Dean’s protests. Dean simply wanted to hunt with whatever time he has left. Meanwhile, the brothers found a hunt with a cousin of the Khan worm, and one of the victims turned out to be an old friend of Cole’s, so he joined the hunt.

Getting a firsthand look at the life of a hunter gave Cole a new appreciation for what the Winchesters do, but he acquitted himself well, fighting a worm he was infected with until it could be expelled from him. But when Sam couldn’t save the other victim, Dean advised him that people can die even when they do all the right things.

‘Supernatural’ season 10, episode 16, ‘Paint It Black,’ synopsis

If that promo has whet your appetite, make sure to read the official synopsis for the 16th episode of the season:

“ROWENA MAKES PLANS TO RECLAIM HER MAGIC — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a string of suicides committed by people with little in common other than the identical, grisly method of death — slow, self-administered disembowlment. All of the victims were members of a Catholic church and had recently given confession, leading the brothers to suspect the priest (guest star Stephen Daniel Curtis) is somehow involved. Meanwhile, when Crowley (Mark Sheppard) captures Olivette (guest star Teryl Rothery), the leader of the Grand Coven, Rowena (guest star Ruth Connell) pleads her case to be allowed to practice magic freely again. John Showalter directed this episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming (#1016).”
