ABC is beefing up its gameshow lineup by bringing back Supermarket Sweep and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Gameshow fans nostalgic for the classics will soon be able to sink their teeth into new episodes of both Supermarket Sweep and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

On Wednesday (January 8), the network announced that they’d officially be bringing back Supermarket Sweep.

For those who need a bit of a refresher, the game show pits three teams of two against each other. The three teams must then use their knowledge to answer grocery shopping themed questions in an effort to win big cash prizes.

In addition to announcing the return to Supermarket Sweep, ABC also revealed that this time around, the hit gameshow will be hosted and executive produced by Emmy nominee and former Saturday Night Live cast member, Leslie Jones.

In a statement announcing the big news, Jones revealed that she’s got some history with the game show, so the fact that she’ll now be hosting is clearly meant to be.

“I’ve always dreamed of being on Supermarket Sweep. Seriously, I tried out for the show years ago, and after getting turned away, I knew I’d have to take matters into my own hands,” said Jones. “Being able to bring the iconic game show back to life on ABC is my ultimate redemption story!”

Supermarket Sweep isn’t the only classic game show returning to ABC’s prime-time lineup. In addition, the network also announced on Thursday (January 8), that it would be bringing Who Wants To Be A Millionaire back as well.

The return of ABC’s hit trivia game show coincides with the series’ 20th anniversary. As part of the celebration, ABC will air a special run of episodes set to begin airing in April; The new crop of episodes will feature celebrity contestants who will play to raise money for charity.

Celebrities aren’t the only ones who will be able to get in on the fun. In addition, the network will also launch a brand new interactive game that’ll allow viewers to play along at home.

They’ll also be introducing a brand new caveat into the mix. For the first time in the game show’s history, the celebrity contestants will be able to invite a guest to join them in the hot seat to help them win as much money for charity as possible.

There’s currently no word with regards to which celebrities will play, but in addition to announcing the new run of episodes, ABC also revealed that Jimmy Kimmel will officially be stepping in to serve as host for the series.

There’s currently no word on when we can expect Leslie Jones’ Supermarket Sweep revival to premiere, but Who Wants To Be A Millionaire fans can catch new episodes of the hit game show beginning Wednesday, April 8 on ABC.
