Warner Bros. has pushed the release date of Superman Vs Batman to May 6, 2016.

Warner Bros.’ Superman Vs Batman film was planned for July 17, 2015, but now the studio is pushing the release date to May 6, 2016. The studio says that the reason for this is to help “realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.”

It’s a little surprising to hear that it’s being delayed (or pushed back), but the film is quite complicated and with the massive amount of star power that’s joined the film, we wouldn’t be surprised that more time is needed on the script. This also gives the film a much less crowded release.

The Peter Pan film, Pan, is sliding into its place on July 17, 2015. Earlier reports suggest that Her star Joaquin Phoenix may be joining the cast of Superman Vs Batman as well, playing the role of Lex Luthor.

While the report concerning Phoenix can’t be confirmed, it’s likely we’ll be seeing Lex Luthor as the main villain in the Man of Steel sequel. Jason Momoa was recently added to the cast as a villain, while Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman.

Director Zack Snyder has jammed his movie full with actors and characters, so we’ll be curious to see what ends up being the focus of the film. We often forget that Ben Affleck will be making his first appearance as Batman in this film as well, which should still be the main focus.

Batman Vs Superman’s release date is set for May 6, 2016. Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill will return along with Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
