That didn’t take long! CBS’ CW’s Supergirl has cast its Superman: He’ll be played by Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin.

Superman will appear in the first two episodes of Supergirl season 2, which is moving over to CW after airing its first season on CBS.

“[Executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said in a press release. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

Superman made very small, covered appearances in season 1 of the series. As we wrote last week, the casting of Superman is significant for a couple reasons. For example, the character is currently played by Henry Cavil in WB and DC’s cinematic universe.

Supergirl returns this fall.

What do you think of Tyler Hoechlin taking on one of the most iconic super hero roles?
