Ahead of Supergirl season 3, episode 2, “Triggers,” we have five teases for the episode to whet your appetite.

The synopsis for Supergirl season 3, episode 2, “Triggers,” reads:

“YAEL GROBGLAS (“JANE THE VIRGIN”) GUEST STARS — Psi (guest star Yael Grobglas), a thief with psychic powers, attacks National City. Able to immobilize people by tapping into their worst fears, Psi proves a formidable opponent for Supergirl. Meanwhile, James (Mehcad Brooks) and Lena (Katie McGrath) are at an impasse, and Samantha starts her new job at L-Corp. David McWhirter directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#302).”

Here are five teases ahead of the episode:

Kara continues to struggle

Though Kara returned to the fold of her friends at the end of the season 3 premiere, that was only the first step in her working through her grief.

Between a new work dynamic — remember, Lena purchased CatCo last episode — and a bank robber who preys on her painful history hitting targets across National City, Kara is having a tough week. Though she makes a comment about being above human fears, she is, however, making small steps toward opening up to her friends and family.

Slowly but surely, Kara Danvers is returning.

The Danvers sisters are front and center

After how little time the Danvers sisters spent together outside of the DEO in season 2, “Triggers” is a delightful and heartwarming throwback to season 1 when the core relationship of the show was the sisterly one.

With Kara slowly opening herself up more, Alex is taking full advantage and making sure to be there for her sister and provide the support she needs, whether to deal with the rogue of the week or her grief over Mon-El.

Maggie and Alex aren’t completely on the same page

Last week, Alex was harboring some concern about having a big wedding when her father wouldn’t be there to walk her down the aisle. However, she and Maggie talked it out, and Alex asked J’onn to do the honors in Jeremiah’s stead.

This, however, is not the only complication the couple is running into as they plan their wedding. From small things like whether to have a live band or a DJ to more long-term relationship decisions, it’s clear there are still some big conversations Alex and Maggie will have to have moving forward.

Lena makes her presence known at CatCo

Having purchased CatCo to prevent Morgan Edge from doing so and turning it into a propaganda vehicle for his own company, Lena arrives for her first day on the job at the magazine. Kara is thrilled to have her friend there — initially, at least — while James is taken off-guard by how involved Lena intends to be.

The trio of Kara, Lena and James deals with some communication issues, some of which are resolved by the end of the episode and some of which are likely to linger, with the new dynamic at CatCo.

Samantha saving her daughter has consequences

We met Samantha last week when she saved her daughter, Ruby, who was trapped under a fallen tower when the Supergirl statue dedication was attacked. She discovered apparent super strength, and Ruby noticed, causing some friction between mother and daughter.

Besides starting a new job with a surprising connection to Lena, Samantha is left with some questions she’s not entirely sure how to answer — or if she even should ask them.

Bonus: Yael Grobglas is a delightful villain…

…though viewers of Jane the Virgin will know that already. Grobglas plays the DC Comics character Psi, a powerful psychic who has been both an enemy an ally of Supergirl as well as member of the Suicide Squad. The character was created by Paul Kupperberg and Carmine Infantino, and she first appeared in 1982’s Supergirl (Volume 2) #1.

Supergirl season 3, episode 2, “Triggers,” airs Monday, October 16 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
