Ahead of the Supergirl season 3 finale, there have been some casting shakeups announced for season 4.

First, Jeremy Jordan, who has played Winn Schott since season 1, has been downgraded from series regular to recurring for season 4.

“We love Jeremy, and even though he’s [not going to be around full-time], we’re not saying goodbye to Winn at all,” executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller tell TVLine.

“We’re already breaking big stories for him right now for the fall, and I think the fans will be excited to see what he has coming up.”

The reason for Winn’s decreased presence will be explained in the season 3 finale. Rovner and Queller promise that he will be “fulfilling his full potential.”

Could this mean we’ll be seeing Jordan back on Broadway?

And second, in Winn’s absence, Jesee Rath, who plays Brainiac-5, has been promoted to series regular for season 4, perhaps to make up for Winn’s comedic absence.

“We love the character of Brainiac-5 and can’t imagine anyone but Jesse Rath in the role,” Rovner and Queller explain. “He brings such fun, heart and brilliance to Brainy, and we’re so excited he’s joining the cast as a series regular for season 4. We have a lot of great Brainy stories to tell.”

This seems to indicate the Legion will be a continued presence in season 4, despite Brainy and Imra returning to the future. We know they will return to 2018 to help in the fight against Reign; while Imra’s future is unknown, Brainy will apparently be sticking around.

The Supergirl season 3 finale airs Monday, June 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
