Supergirl has received an official series order from CBS for the 2015-16 season.

Though it seemed obvious it would happen, we now have official word of the formal series pickup for Supergirl. We’ll find out when the series will air in CBS’ fall lineup at the CBS Upfront on Wednesday, May 13.

Though CBS doesn’t usually start ordering its series until the Friday or Saturday before network upfronts, CBS had an early deadline to decide on the pilot as part of the deal between CBS and Warner Bros. This is “a perk reserved only for the biggest producers in town that CBS also has bestowed on Chuck Lorre,” notes Deadline.

This shows that the names behind the project, which include Arrow and The Flash‘s Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, are gaining bona fides among network higher ups. This is also seen in the fact that their Arrow/Flash spinoff will likely bypass pilot season all together at The CW.

The series stars Melissa Benoist (Glee) as Kara Zor-El, the titular Supergirl. “Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago,” the series synopsis reads. “Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman.

“Now 24, Kara feels un-empowered, a slave to having repressed her innate abilities. She’s still pretty, but with her face hidden behind glasses and her hair pulled back, she doesn’t know it herself. An unexpected disaster forces her to use her powers in public. Energized by her heroic deed, for the first time in her life, Kara begins embracing her extraordinary abilities. She begins helping the people of her city and they soon take notice — and she’s even given a new moniker: Supergirl.”
