Blake Jenner, who co-starred with Supergirl star Melissa Benoist on Glee, is joining the cast of Supergirl.

Jenner, who is now married to Benoist, will be playing a potential new love interest for Kara, reports TVLine.

Jenner will play Adam Foster, who is described as “a handsome stranger from Cat Grant’s (Calista Flockhart) past whose arrival in National City tests Kara and Cat’s relationship like never before. At the same time, Adam and Kara form a very unexpected connection.”

Adam Foster does not seem to be an established character from the DC Comics, though established characters have been cast under false names before in Greg Berlanti-produced superhero series.

Though there have been strong feelings between Kara and James Olsen, James recently reunited with ex-girlfriend Lucy Lane when she traveled to National City to mend fences. With James in a relationship, it makes sense for Kara to find romance elsewhere.

On Glee, Jenner’s and Benoist’s characters — Ryder Lynn and Marley Rose — were romantically entangled, though the pair did not end up a couple on-screen by the end of the series. The couple, however, became close on set and married in March 2015.

Jenner’s role is set to be recurring, and his first episode will air in early 2016.

In addition to Glee, Jenner has appeared in a guest spot on Melissa & Joey as well as several independent films.

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
