Supergirl 4×11, “Blood Memory,” finds Kara stunned with her new reality (given that Alex’s memory has been wiped of her big secret). Meanwhile, Nia goes home to see her family and faces her impending future.

On the last episode of Supergirl, Colonel Haley began interrogating everyone at the DEO to discover Supergirl’s true identity. Though the agents banded together, Haley broke one of them and discovered the truth about Kara Danvers.

After being threatened by Haley, Kara and Alex had to call in J’onn to wipe the revelation from her memory. In her last attempt to protect Kara, Alex had J’onn wipe her memory, so there would be no chance of Haley discovering Kara’s secret.

The synopsis for “Blood Memory” reads:

Kara joins Nia on a trip to Nia’s hometown to visit her family during the town’s annual Harvest Festival; Alex deals with a street drug that is turning people violent and giving them temporary superpowers.

We have five screener secrets to prepare you for this heartbreaking episode.

Alex’s memory wipe has a ripple effect

As to be expected, Alex losing her memories of Kara as Supergirl impacts her much deeper than they originally considered. The trailer teases that, since Alex grew up with Kara and knew of her abilities and alien heritage during her “formative” years, everything about Alex would change.

The biggest change, it seems, is Alex’s empathy. Prepare for a much colder Alex Danvers until she (inevitably) remembers who she is and who Kara is.

Even though Colonel Haley is gone during this episode, the DEO isn’t embracing Supergirl any time soon.

Meet Nia’s family

The newest alien in National City is returning to her “paradise” of a hometown for a much-needed family reunion. (I put paradise in quotes because there’s a nice line from Lena about the meaning of the town’s name.) Upon her return, Nia is conflicted about her powers and what they mean for her future.

Supergirl previously alluded to Nia’s “accepting” family, but one member takes a severe turn and breaks Nia’s heart, which is an open-ended thread that will lead into the future. On the bright side, it appears that Nia is sticking around, at least for now, because there’s absolutely no chance the writers would leave off on such a sour note.

Kara reveals her identity to… someone

After the hassle the DEO has put her through regarding her secret identity, it seems Kara is getting antsy to just reveal herself to the world and deal with the consequences.

In order to help one of her friends, Kara takes a leap of faith and reveals herself as Supergirl, though the way she does it seems… desperate. Perhaps it’s just because her big sister no longer knows who she really is and she’d give anything for Alex to see her.

Dreamer is born

Nia’s powers finally come to light on Supergirl 4×11, and we’re given a glimpse of what she can do and how her powers work. Additionally, there’s a tease about powers outside of her dreams that may eventually manifest, but it’s unclear what that would look like.

Aside from seeing what her dreams appear to be, Nia receives her superhero costume and receives the nickname “Dreamer” from someone very special to her.

Red Daughter returns

The episode opens with another training sequence of Red Daughter as she continues to grow stronger. However, something happens to her that causes the events of the episode to unfold. (And, no, she doesn’t appear in National City. This happens in Kaznia, though the impact is felt around the world.)

The episode also ends on Red Daughter with a Kaznian official who is making a phone call. Who’s that phone call to? It’s not revealed, though after watching the episode, I think everyone will be able to figure it out.

Supergirl 4×11, “Blood Memory,” airs Sunday, January 27 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

P.S.: Best line of the episode, by far, is this one: “Why does [REDACTED] look like Hagrid on steroids?” (I’m loving the numerous Harry Potter jokes that have been made on Supergirl this season.)
