Harvey ropes Mike into a case against Travis Tanner. We’ve been down this road before, people. Check out what else happened on Suits season 5, episode 5, “Toe to Toe.”

Harvey is going to look towards work to distract him from the panic attacks and his personal drama, but how can he do that when work is partially the cause of them? In a dream sequence, viewers get to see Harvey post-shower admiring a certain red-head in his bed. We see Donna’s face, but like a dream, things change very quickly. Suddenly, he’s watching her cuddle up next to Tanner and a flash of anxiety passes over his face.

Louis spends the episode trying to right the wrongs he did weeks ago. Jessica challenges him to fix what he broke with Harvey and the compensation policy like a man. Oh, and he did not like hearing that. Eventually — with the help of Rachel, of course — he manages to manipulate the entire scenario so Jessica gives him her proxy (power).

After supposedly cutting a deal with Jack to back down the compensation policy changes at the firm, Jack screws Louis over in the meeting. Louis goes AWOL and Jessica is pissed off. It takes Donna talking to him to make him realize that he should start owning up to his mistakes. We all know that the little lies and omissions of the truth snowball and nothing good comes from it.

Harvey points out “the only way to get Tanner to back down is to point a cannon in his face.” Harvey is acting irrational. Harvey doesn’t think he is acting irrational. Mike and his new hair do are worried.

The problem with Travis Tanner, that Harvey and Mike point out in various ways during “Toe to Toe” tonight, is that cases with/against him escalate. And then they explode fireworks. Case in point: a sidewalk confrontation ends with Harvey punching Travis. Thankfully, this is the last significant scene we see of him tonight, but it’s probably not the last this season.

In the end, Harvey is forced to settle when Tanner removes himself from the case. Before, he wasn’t settling on principle. Now Harvey is the bad guy if he doesn’t agree to the agreement.

On a personal front, Harvey’s therapy sessions seem to be progressing. He wins a card game against Dr. Agard and wins. In turn, he asks what the worst mistake she made as a therapist. Turns out, she holds a lot of guilt for releasing someone from rehab too early, the man overdosed days later and died.

Side note: For someone who’s only be seen in one room, Christina Cole has been amazing this season playing Harvey’s therapist, Dr. Agard. Based off the promo for next week, we’ll see her standing in Harvey’s office. Under what circumstances, that’s anyone’s guess.

A secondary theme running through tonight’s episode was Harvey’s relationship with his father. It ain’t great, people. We know this, so it’s interesting Suits has decided to remind us. They do it to show how hard Harvey gets therapist-ed tonight. While the woman Harvey had dreamed about looked like Donna, Dr. Agard believes it was his cheating mother. Yeah, that’s like, Therapy 101, Specter.

Remember when we (this writer) thought this season was going to focus on Mike and Rachel’s impending nuptials and/or Rachel’s law school attendance? We’re so happy that Suits has decided to take this direction. It serves as a gateway to more interesting stories for the rest of the season — and series.

On that note, we are now halfway through this chunk of Suits season 5. There will be five more episodes to air this summer, and then the final six will air sometime in Winter 2016, as per USA Network’s block schedule.
