The Suits mid-season 3 premiere is this Thursday night. The show has been off the air for a while, so, what do you need to remember to pick it back up? We’re here to get you up to speed.

So, how did we end Suits season 3 episode 10, “Stay”? Here are a few brief explanations of how we left of the characters, their relationships, and potential problems that could be on the horizon. Also be sure to check out the synopsis for the mid-season 3 premiere episode, “Buried Secrets” that airs this Thursday!

Rachel & Mike

Rachel and Mike went through a rocky time as she seriously considered attending Stanford for Law school, but Mike pleaded with Rachel to make her evaluate how much their relationship means to her, and turns out, it’s a lot. Rachel will soon be enrolled at Columbia Law School and was able to strong-arm Jessica into allowing her to work for Pearson-Spector once she graduates. She’ll be the one and only exception to the Harvard-only hiring rule – for now.

After so much time dancing around each other, and then hiding their relationship from their friends, this will be the first time they are a real, actual, dating couple. No more sneaking around, no more hiding their feelings. They are crazy about each other, and let’s hope it stays that way, as Rachel enters law school and more people possibly discover Mike’s secret.

Harvey & Scottie

Oh, these two. They fought on opposite sides for so long before finally coming together, both professionally (momentarily) and romantically, in the mid-season 3 finale.

This relationship will be a monumental step for serial-dater Harvey, who always seemed to have harbored feelings for her, but we doubt it will be such smooth sailing. Perhaps we can expect some comedic moments in the form of Harvey trying to play the role of “boyfriend.”

Harvey’s name is on the door, and he finally has some stability in his life, but there may be a few new characters the second half of this season who are intent on shaking things up again. We know Harvey cares about Scottie, and she seems pretty happy with him, but when push comes to shove, how much will these two been able to handle once the honeymoon period is over?

  Louis & Sheila

The mid-season finale ended with Louis snooping through Harvard’s files to dig up dirt on his coworkers – so imagine his surprise when he did not find one on Mike Ross. Knowing Louis, this will be sure to send his already heightened suspicions of the associate through the roof. While he seems engaged in a relationship with Harvard employee, Sheila Sazs, we’re sure he will find plenty of time to investigate Mike’s biggest Achilles’ heel.

The question is, after everything that has happened with Jessica, Hardman, Darby, and Harvey, if Louis does find out, will he be loyal to his firm or take the first opportunity to finally get ahead?

Jessica, Donna and the rest of the firm

We hope Jessica comes back fiercer than ever. After conceding a lot of her own morals in light of Mike and Rachel’s relationship – namely, the hire-from-Harvard, long-established rule – it stands to reason that she is looking to get back on top of her game.

Donna, frankly, got burned pretty bad earlier this season. Stephen Huntley, (Max Beesley) with whom she entered into a physical relationship, while (thankfully) not fully committing emotionally, turned out to be a liar and one of the bad guys. She did extract her revenge by helping Mike get him to admit to the fact he lied on his affidavit in the finale.

Looking ahead at this season

There will be a bevy of guest stars in the next six episodes, and we already know a little bit about their characters! Olympian Michael Phelps, who will play himself, comes to Pearson-Spector seeking some legal council.

Gabriel Macht’s father, Stephen Macht, will be prominently featured this season as “Professor Gerard, a notoriously rigid Harvard professor with very high standards.” According to an interview with show creator Aaron Korsh, the real-life father and son do not get along on-screen. “He does not have a positive history with Harvey Specter. They have a conflictual scene.”

Here is the synopsis for the mid-season premiere, season 3, episode 11 ‘Buried Secrets’:

“Things get complicated when Harvey mixes business with pleasure and gets caught between Jessica and Scottie. Painful memories plague Mike as he uses a case to exorcise demons against an old foe, while Louis’ suspicions threaten to expose Mike. “

The ‘Suits’ mid-season premiere returns to the USA Network this Thursday night at 9PM.
