Suicide Squad director James Gunn officially confirmed everyone who’s currently part of his sequel film.

After weeks of rumored casting decisions which seemed to be all over the map, James Gunn took to Twitter today to officially confirm every actor and actress involved in his Suicide Squad sequel.

And it turns out all the rumored casting decisions were basically on target.

On the list, Gunn confirmed names like Peter Capaldi, Taika Waititi and Nathan Fillion, whom we’d heard about previously, while also giving us additional casting decisions like Sean Gunn.

Check out the full list of cast members below!

Though we have no confirmations as to who everyone is playing, there are more than a few rumors floating about to give us an idea.

While Idris Elba was originally reported as replacing Will Smith’s Deadshot, more recent rumors (and I stress rumors) have him playing Slade Wilson’s Deathstroke.

Michael Rooker is rumored to be playing King Shark, while John Cena is rumored to play Pacemaker.

It’s hard to imagine what kind of film could possibly balance a cast of this size. Fortunately, it looks like we won’t have to imagine it or watch it, as James Gunn posted the list with the caveat of “Don’t get too attached.”

Like the previous film, it seems like The Suicide Squad will come with quite a body count attached, which means that it’s likely that many — or even most — of these cast members won’t make it past the first act of the film.

Though the film has been sometimes referred to as a ‘reboot’ of a sorts, there are enough returning cast members from the first film to make it seem more like a sequel or a soft reboot. Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis will seemingly reprise their roles — which can only be a great thing considering how utterly perfect the casting for Amanda Waller and Harley Quinn were.

Suicide Squad will be written and directed by James Gunn, with Chuck Roven and Peter Safran serving as producers (as they have for nearly all DCEU films). There’s no word yet on what the plot will entail, but given the team, it’ll have something to do with a group of anti-heroes taking on a mission for Amanda Waller.

The Suicide Squad will hit theaters on August 6, 2021.
