The Motion Picture Association of America has officially given the upcoming summer hit Suicide Squad a PG-13 rating!

The Motion Picture Association of America has given Suicide Squad a PG-13 rating for “sequences of violence and action throughout, disturbing behavior, and suggestive content and language.” It comes as no surprise that the film has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA, since that’s what director David Ayer and Warner Bros. were shooting for.

I would be willing to bet that Suicide Squad just made the cut for PG-13 given the content. With Joker and Harley at the forefront of the film, there’s sure to be some pretty violent and twisted scenes. The actress recently teased that, “Their relationship is nuts. It’s terrifying.” Since the Squad is a group of villains who seem to live by their own morals, I’m also expecting plenty of violence and gore during their missions.

Earlier this year in an interview with MTV the director had stated, “For an R movie, you have to decide to do it right out the gate, and that was never the case here.” However, in the future we may see a Suicide Squad sequel with an R-rating.

I’d for sure be interested in seeing the sequels, or even the spinoffs with R-ratings. I can’t help but feel like these villains won’t be able to reach their full potential without having to follow the PG-13 guidelines. With that said, it’s always nice that the younger fans of these movies will be able to attend without worry.

Are you glad to see that ‘Suicide Squad’ was given a PG-13 rating?
